This film sees a change in sorts for Mike Leigh; Another Year is divided in to four chapters based around the seasons and focuses on encounters between two people who have got life right and a number of people who haven’t. A highly absorbing piece of work with complex characters and Leigh's trademark blend of humour and pathos.

In the first film, a moving personal narrative, a woman journeys through the changes of the season, the celebrations, festivals and harvest and the changing climate.
