Big Eyes 12A
Based on the true story of Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), one of the most successful painters of the 1950s and early 1960s. The artist earned staggering notoriety by revolutionizing the commercialisation and accessibility of popular art with his enigmatic paintings of waifs with big eyes. The truth would eventually be discovered though: Keane’s art was actually not created by him at all, but by his wife, Margaret (Amy Adams).
Why we like it
"Co-stars Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz are both predictably ace in Tim Burton’s biopic of artist Margaret Keane; Waltz in particular takes a scenery-chewing delight in his role as Margaret’s raconteur husband, in this likable film that finds time to suggest intriguing questions about the value and status of art in the twentieth century." - Sarah C, Box Office Assistant
