Bobby Fischer Against the World 12A
This documentary explores one of the most infamous and mysterious characters of the 20th century; chess master Bobby Fischer. Rising from a troubled childhood to rock-star status as world chess champion at the age of 29, Bobby Fischer walked the line between genius and madness. Also a Cold War veteran who spent most of his life on the run, Fischer was never equipped for life in the spotlight.
The British Chess Championships take place in Sheffield at Ponds Forge, 23 July - 6 August run by the English Chess Federation.
On Thursday 28 July 8.15pm, the screening of the film will be followed by a Q&A with Stewart Reuben of the ECF who knew Bobby Fischer personally.
