Carmina y Amen - ¡VIVA! 18
After the sudden death of her husband, a working-class family matriarch convinces her daughter to conceal his passing for two days, until she’s paid the bonus he was due. This award-winning black comedy reunites director Paco León with the working-class residents of Seville who delighted audiences in 2012 with the surprise hit Carmina o revienta (Carmina or Blow-Up), including his mother and sister in the starring roles. Fans of The Royle Family or Shameless are bound to appreciate its wickedly comic use of Spanish class and region stereotypes, from the ostentatious Catholic to the wacky non-conformist Catalan. Peppered with inspired wit and deliriously surreal moments, this film is a delight to watch!
