Chi-Raq 15
This satirical musical drama is politically relevant and hugely ambitious. Directed by Spike Lee, Chi-Raq sees the influential filmmaker back at the top of his game, as he examines the violence of gangland Chicago with frantically charged energy and wit.
Fed up of the constant fighting, a girlfriend of a gang leader decides to abstain from sex until the needless violence ceases. Encouraging other women to do the same, together they try to force an end to their boyfriends’ violent cycle of gun crime and territorial disputes. This wild film takes its roots from Classical Greek comedy, as Lee bases Chi-Raq on Aristophanes' Lysistrata.
