Escoffier Evening at the Showroom
Spend an evening at the Showroom in celebration of the great Auguste Escoffier (1846-1935), the French culinary master who revolutionised the experience of dining out.
Escoffier simplified the extravagant, complicated recipes in vogue in French cuisine. He broke with the tradition of serving all dishes simultaneously in favour of serving them one at a time in the manner we are accustomed to today.
Auguste Escoffier's philosophy was to take gourmet cooking out of the homes of the gentry and he made fine restaurants the place to be seen for the rich and fashionable, demystifying the processes of the kitchen with public displays of his craft. He took a keen interest in the nutritional value of different food types and made his methods accessible to everyone with his groundbreaking books, the most famous being Le Guide Culinaire and Ma Cuisine.
The Showroom's Head Chef, Simon Ayres, pays tribute to Auguste Escoffier with a specially prepared menu embracing Escoffier's philosophy and methods, there will also be a bit of Escoffier-style showmanship from the kitchen team on the night!
