A glimpse into the glamorous life of French cultural maverick Serge Gainsbourg (Je t’aime... moi non plus), from growing up in 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris through his successful song-writing years in the 1960s to his death in 1991 at the age of 62. The film charts his many affairs, with his long-term lover and muse Jane Birkin and 60s femme fatale Brigitte Bardot.
"A wildly creative take on the life of notorious French composer, lyricist and provocateur Serge Gainsbourg, Gainsbourg (vie heroique) is splendidly cast and consistently engaging."
Screen Daily
"Both evocative and faithful in its depiction of the famed French singer's lascivious life, Gainsbourg (vie heroique) offers up a feast of memorable chansons and an almost endless parade of drop-dead-gorgeous muses."
