Indignation 15
Set in 1950s America, with the Korean War looming large over the film, a young Jewish student called Marcus Metzner enrolls in a college in Ohio. Studying means exemption from the military draft, but also escape from his authoritarian father.
College for the working-class Marcus means love and defiance. He falls for a fellow student, the wealthy Olivia, but also has altercations with the dean of the school over the role religion plays at the heavily Christian college. Questioning the issues which lie at the very heart of our society, Indignation is a mature and assured debut from director James Shamus.
