In 2014 American journalist James Foley’s video beheading at the hands of the newly emerged ISIS shocked the world. In this poignant doc made by his childhood friend, Brian Oakes, Foley’s friends, family and colleagues eschew his violent death in order to recall his short but impactful life, and how, having survived being kidnapped in Libya, Foley soon insisted on traveling to Syria, with devastating consequences.
