Kate Plays Christine 15
In 1974, a news reporter from Sarasota, Florida, shot herself on live television. Her name was Christine Chubbuck. She said: “In keeping with Channel 40’s policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts, and in living colour, you are going to see another first: an attempted suicide.” She later died in hospital. The word spread like wild fire across America and the story eventually inspired Sidney Lumet’s classic Hollywood masterpiece, Network. This fascinating and unorthodox film follows actress Kate Lynn Sheil (House of Cards, Listen Up Philip) as she prepares to play Christine in an upcoming biopic. But who was she and what was the real story behind her sensational final act. A gripping, non-fiction psychological thriller. File next to Catfish, The Imposter and Dreams of a Life.
