Lion PG
5-year-old Saroo (Sunny Pawar) and his brother Guddu search the streets of rural India for casual work to help support their mother. After a catastrophic accident finds Saroo, frightened and alone, on a train taking him miles away from home, he is eventually adopted from an orphanage by a couple in Australia (Nicole Kidman and David Wenham). 25 years later, Dev Patel portrays Saroo as an ambitious and self-assured young man, studying a hotel management course in Melbourne and in love with fellow student Lucy (Rooney Mara). His longing to find the world from his past is aided by rapid technological development: the rise of Google Earth provides Saroo with an opportunity to attempt to track the train journey that took him away from his family. Based on a true story, Lion is a powerful and captivating exploration into racial identity, family and what it means to find your ‘home’.
