Vintage British horror based on Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, the seventh in Corman’s series of Poe adaptations. Medieval Europe and the ‘Red Death’ plague is raging. Price plays the sadistic Prince Prospero who protects himself and his cronies, revelling in his castle while outside the peasants suffer. Prospero throws an extravagant masked ball, but an unexpected guest leads the party down a macabre path.
