Profile: Dean Gormley

Dean is a solicitor and is a partner in law firm Nabarro LLP, working in the Sheffield office. Dean is actively involved in the South Yorkshire business community advising local businesses, investors, banks and other lenders on funding transactions.

Dean is recognised as a leading expert in finance law by the independent Chambers and Partners Guide to the Legal Profession.

Dean is keen to use his experience, skills and contacts to put something back into the local community.

Dean is involved in fundraising for Mencap, the learning disability charity, via its "Y Factor" event (a singing competition for the corporate finance community). The event has been run successfully in Leeds and Manchester for a number of years. Dean suggested that there should be an event in Sheffield and then helped Mencap organise the inaugural Sheffield Y Factor, which took place in June 2011 at Crystal Bar. Accountants, bankers, lawyers and other professionals performed with the backing of a live band, raising around £10,000 for Mencap.
