Music In My Films: In conversation with Jeremy Deller - HUBS
Turner Prize winner Jeremy Deller is a self-trained conceptual artist. His reputation was cemented in 2001 when he made The Battle of Orgreave – a re-enactment of a clash between striking miners and police in 1984. Music has played a major role in the films of Jeremy Deller - the soundtrack in Deller’s films are often central to their narrative - in this masterclass you get a chance to hear about the music documentaries that have influenced Deller as well as take an in-depth look at the use of music in his own films.
A selection of Jeremy Deller’s work will be part of the exhibition Documentary: A Peculiar Form of Fiction at S1 Artspace and Site Gallery from Wednesday 13 June. For full details, see www.sheffdocfest.com/view/jeremydeller
Please note: this event is taking place in the HUBS at Sheffield Hallam University.
