On 1 July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 513 officers and men from the Sheffield Pals Battalion were killed, wounded or missing near the French town of Bapaume. After the war, Sheffield helped raise funds and rebuild the town. This illustrated talk looks at the close links between Sheffield and Bapaume that continue to this day.
