The Birth of a Nation 15
The story of a slave rebellion in the antebellum South, as an enslaved Baptist preacher inspires an uprising on a Virginia plantation. A biographical drama that packs a punch, stirring emotion and terror in equal measure.
Nat Turner (Nate Parker) is a literate slave and preacher working for Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer), his financially strained owner. Desperate for control over his unruly slaves, Samuel accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue them. But as Nat witnesses more and more atrocities, he uses his power to instigate an uprising in an attempt to lead his people to freedom.
