Newcomer Madina Nalwanga plays a young girl from rural Uganda who is stuck in the shantytown of Katwe. She sees no way out until she discovers her talent for playing chess. Transformed by her new passion, she sets out to follow her dream of becoming an international champion.
With a strong cast including Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Queen of Katwe is an inspiring story of a girl’s journey into the world. And, when she realises her true potential, it is a tale of her desire and determination to find a better life for her family.
