A biting and brutal satire on Russia, religion and fundamentalism, The Student is a stormy and feverish fight between fanaticism and liberalism and the twisting of texts and ideas for political gain. A deeply fervent and newly converted Christian teenager is in the midst of a spiritual crisis that turns his relationships with friends, family and school upside down. Swearing only by scripture, he is swiftly convinced that the world around him is lost to evil and begins to challenge everything.
