The Tribe 18
A deaf teenager struggles to fit into the boarding school system in this incredible film, which is told entirely through the sign-language exchanged on screen, without subtitles. Forget what you think you know about how to watch a film: this will challenge and totally reward the effort made. While sound is barely there, rare uses are amazingly powerful and your imagination will fill in the gaps. A story of acceptance, the titular tribe are fascinating in their group dynamic and their criminal activity. Winner of Critics Week in Cannes 2014.
