Regeneration specialist and Workstation tenant New Start Magazine has scooped a trio of nominations in this year’s prestigious national Independent Publisher Awards.
A celebration of the dynamic contribution, entrepreneurial spirit and achievements of independent publishers, the awards have shortlisted New Start in three categories:
• Re-launch of the year
• Editor of the year – Austin Macauley
• Team of the year.
A national magazine, New Start was launched in February 1999 and is the toolkit for practitioners working in regeneration, economic development and urban communities. Now in its sixth year, the Independent Publisher Awards recognise and reward what it calls ‘the lifeblood of the industry’ - independent publishers with a turnover of £7 million or below.
New Start’s managing director Jamie Veitch said: “Being announced as finalists is an accolade in itself as it is fantastic recognition from our peers and leading figures in the industry. To be short-listed not once, but three times, is a real stamp of approval for a variety of New Start’s achievements – our successful re-launch, the effectiveness of the team in producing a publication in touch with its core market and values and the quality of our editorial content.”
The 2009 ceremony will be presented by James Caan of the BBC Dragons' Den TV show and will take place in London next month.
