Sensoria, the UK's Festival of Film, Music and Digital was a storming success this April with admissions growing by 10% and SensoriaPro delegate numbers increasing by 30%. The festival received excellent feedback from punters and partners alike. Highlights included British Sea Power's live soundtrack to Man of Aran which was cited 'the memory of a lifetime'. The film had a rare outing on 35mm celluloid and the band enjoyed a standing ovation twice over.
Additionally Isomorphism and Totality gave sonic artists Mark Fell, Ernest Edmonds and Theo Burt the chance to show their work, in HD, on the big screen making for a really immersive experience - both events attracted audiences from across the UK.
The launch of Music For Real Airports sold out at Millennium Galleries and featured music by The Black Dog and visuals by Human Studio. Sensoria also gained access to Sheffield's working law courts for a special outing of courtroom drama Twelve Angry Men.
The festival is particularly renowned for its SensoriaPro Industry Day, a must-attend event on the music industry calendar that provides a crucible for new ideas from musicians, filmmakers, games developers, festivals and more. SensoriaPro takes place at Showroom Cinema and enjoys an informal atmosphere where delegates mingle easily with international guest speakers - two thirds of delegates also stated they would do a deal as a result of attending the event.
The festival provided the culmination of an excellent year that also included helping to co-ordinate a sell out tour for the film Breaking Rocks with Billy Bragg.
Jo Wingate, Sensoria Director, commented: "We really want to thank everyone who supported us and helped make our 3rd year the best yet. The festival was the launch event for Sheffield Music City 2010 and has grown to become an established point on the festival calendar. Sensoria celebrates local and regional talent, originates innovative new work and finds new ways of presenting. Additionally SensoriaPro is now a world class industry event and next year will grow to two days, a day can no longer accommodate our programme of sessions, networking and socialising. We're already to the brim with ideas and collaborations and can't wait to announce some 'Sensoria Teaser' events this year - and our exciting plans for next year."
