The Venns: The quest for the perfect pub quiz!

The Venns is a zine (out now), comedy show (coming soon), and research project (ongoing) about finding the perfect pub quiz team, created by a Sheffield-based comedy-writing team.

The Comedy:
Quint and Jow are writing a comedy pilot that draws heavily on a combination of mockumentary, improvisation and on-screen info graphics, but they promise that underneath all that there are real, likeable characters and some semblance of a plot. They've also got designs on some sitespecific, quiz-based theatre. They're looking for people to help with producing this stuff, so please get in touch if you'd like to be involved in some way.

The Zine:

The freshly-printed zine is a spoof research paper on the workings of the average pub quiz team. Anonymous 'Informants' are quoted, terms are defined and serious-sounding theories are bandied about, but it's all in good fun. Articles include player archetypes, an interview with an unusual quiz-master, foreign perspectives, a word from the guy who said 'Munted' on Countdown, a sample quiz, reviews of some of the pub quizzes in Sheffield, and, of course, there are very important diagrams, charts and graphs throughout. It's an A5 zine with 20 litho-printed black-and-white pages plus full colour front and back covers.

Quint and Jow will be offering one free zine per team at the pub quizzes they regularly attend around Sheffield. Spare copies will be available in exchange for a pint or the price of a pint, depending on how much they've had to drink already, with money going toward the cost of printing.
