Wreck-It Ralph PG
The season, brought to you by the BFI Film Academy Young Film Programmers, looks at the representation of videogames in film to examine the relationship between the two forms of media. Screening a double bill including Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (based on the comic book series by Bryan O’Malley) the season is the perfect cinematic experience for anyone interested in the digital realm.
For decades, Ralph has been overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, Jr., the good-guy star of their game who always gets to save the day. Tired of playing the role of a bad guy, Ralph takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a journey across the arcade through multiple generations of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.
Come and join us for a free board game session in our cafe ahead of the screenings, the games have been picked especially for this film season by The Treehouse board game cafe! It will take place from 2PM - 4PM, please turn up on the day to take part - our programmers will be ready and waiting to book you in for a session ahead of their film season.
Statement from the Young Programmers:
We chose these two films in order to showcase different aspects of video games and the culture surrounding them; firstly we chose Scott Pilgrim due to its heavy influence from different video games which affect all areas of the film including its story, characters, structure and visuals which all come together to make a fun, unique and captivating portrayal of video games in live action.
