Film Still: 1945

A pair of mysterious men, clad in black, arrive at a railway station. The year is 1945 and the men are Orthodox Jews, returning to the Hungarian village that betrayed them whilst the country was under Nazi-occupation.

Shot in gorgeous black and white, this powerful and haunting film from Ferenc Török cleverly mobilises and subverts the tropes and iconography of the Western to interrogate the legacy of the Holocaust.
