57Digital Profile

There’s a great atmosphere at the Workstation, we have so much in common with the other tenants.” –Luke, one of the co-founders of 57Digital.

57 Digital

57Digital are a small team of iPhone and Android app developers. They specialise in making companion apps for the popular game Minecraft as well as working for clients. The company was established in 2011 after its two founders Luke and Jamie had the idea to go it alone instead of working for other people. They discovered that they were both learning about new technology and decided that they may as well learn together. The majority of the time there is just the two of them in the office; however they have been joined by Joshua and Steven who assist in developing and content writing part time.

Choosing the Workstation

Previously based at Sheffield Technology Park, 57Digital found that as the team grew, the space that they were based in shrank. So, they decided to up sticks and move to the Workstation.

Co-founder Jamie said: “We loved the quirkiness of the office space here. We also found the other tenants to be more like minded as they were creative like us.”

In fact, so like-minded were the other tenants that 57Digital are currently in the process of developing an app with one of them.

The team have developed three apps in association with Mojang, the creators of Minecraft. The apps range from character customisation to helping children create a paper model of their Minecraft character- something which parents often tell 57Digital that they are grateful for! The partnership came about after the team began creating Minecraft apps which proved to be quite popular and caught the attention of the developers who then approached the company to form a partnership.

Some of 57Digital’s apps are now three years old and so the main aim for 2015 is to redevelop them all- giving them a facelift so that they look better than ever on the big screens that seem to be coming through the mobile market more than ever. The team are also taking on additional client work to grow their business even further.
