A Man Called Ove 15
Ove (excellently portrayed by Rolf Lassgård) is the curmudgeonly old man next door, with strict routines and principles he believes everyone should live by and has little time for those who don’t. His life is suddenly turned upside-down with the arrival of his new neighbours: a friendly young family whose growing dependence on and affection for Ove offers him a new lease on life. As we are shown flashes of the events, both good and bad, that have shaped him, we come to understand the mystery that is Ove and see the potential for change that can be inspired by the warmth and compassion of others.
This Oscar-nominated gem was one of Sweden’s biggest box office hits of all time; the film’s charmingly poignant treatment of universal themes of life, death, love and loss are sure to move and delight.
