A Short Film About Killing + Intro 18
Set in Warsaw, A Short Film about Killing is an extended version of the fifth episode from Krzysztof Kieślowski’s acclaimed television series Dekalog.
The film follows the lives of three characters: Waldemar Rekowski, a taxi driver, Jacek Łazar, a drifter, and Piotr Balicki, a lawyer. As one of the characters commit murder, Balicki finds himself preparing the defense.
Balicki loses his case, and preparations are made for the capital punishment to be implemented. As the murderer awaits the rope, we learn of his previous trauma, and the film forces us to question the implementation of the death sentence by the establishment.
This screening will feature an introduction from Dr Christopher Bennett, Professor in the Philosophy Department at the University of Sheffield.
