Intro to Ableton Live! with Emily J Electric
To celebrate the release of The Shock of the Future, the brilliant new film which celebrates the female pioneers of electronic music in 1970s Paris, we're offering a free 90-minute workshop that will open the door to the magical musical Narnia that is Ableton Live!
We have 15 places available for womxn* interested in creating or performing with this incredible software.
It’s a taster session aimed at beginners; no experience is necessary, just a pair of headphones (preferably over-ear) and a laptop which meets the minimum system requirements to run the software.
The session will be lead by Emily J Electric: a musician and performer who has played at festivals (Fusion, Shambala), clubs in Berlin (Subland, Urban Spree, Kosmonaut, Cassiopeia, VCF), Paris (Batofar, Glaz’art, Concorde Atlantique) and many UK cities.
Emily currently also plays in live dance jam band Poppers Revival and runs the Ableton Live User Group in Sheffield. The group hosts bi-monthly meet-ups with a different theme each time, and welcomes guests like the amazing Rachel K Collier.
We look forward to getting creative with you during this taster - after a short demonstration, you’ll be guided through your first steps with Ableton so you can delve straight into beats, clips and melodies. Prepare to play!
*Including gender-fluid, non-binary, and agender.
