ShAFF: Adrenlaine Session 12A

The Adrenaline Session is always one of our most popular. Expect a rapid fire of action-packed shorts with a couple of longer, more thought provoking films.

1. Red Bull Bike Express 5 minutes

   Imagine riding a bike on a moving train. It sounds like a wild idea, but for Dawid Godziek, it's just another day pushing the limits of what's possible. In an exclusive interview, the Polish BMX and MTB freestyler takes us behind the scenes of the Red Bull Bike Express project, revealing how the idea came to life and sharing the most challenging part of pulling off this daring stunt.

2. Ice Waterfalls 18 minutes

   Searching for a new frontier in kayaking, Aniol Serrasolses scours the Arctic for uniquely ephemeral and challenging waterfalls on the edge of the Northern Ice Sheets. After traversing the icy plains of Greenland on the lookout for elusive ice-melt rivers and waterfalls, Aniol Serrasolses and crew head to Svalbard, deep in the Arctic circle. Here, aboard a highly-specialised vessel they travel to the Bråsvellbreen glacier, one of the most remote places on Earth where the 20m-high icewall provides waterfalls like the team had never seen before. A technical and athletic challenge like no other then unfolds on the icy waters and glaciers culminating in a unique and visually-stunning world-first waterfall descent.

3. MOMO 2 minutes

   From the humble beginnings of a small African village to the dazzling heights of Cirque du Soleil, 'Momo' shares the story of a man who defied gravity and destiny. This short film is a celebration of resilience and the magic of flight, where Momo doesn't just perform - he transcends.

4. Nebulae 4 minutes

   With most touring films focusing on big missions and/or difficult to access, gnarly terrain, Nebulae focuses on local options and 'good vibes' terrain and riding that the average rider can visualize accessing and riding, even if they are not at the level to ride all the terrain depicted. All terrain in Nebulae is within 15 minute drive of Revelstoke.

5. One Inch From Flying 4 minutes

   A young climber grapples with the complexity of modern life, and celebrates the sense of balance he gets from walking highlines while rigging and walking an alpine highline in Washington's North Cascades.

6. Point of No Return 6 minutes

   Amber Forte embarks on her first wingsuit base jump. Leading up to the leap, she reflects on her motivations for taking this "risk" and explores how she confronts fear and pushes her personal boundaries.

7. Sliding 4 minutes

   On a beautiful, blue-bird winter day in the Swiss Alps, a female athlete listens to the weather report over her morning coffee. After contemplating hitting the ski slopes with the other outdoor enthusiasts, she has an idea... she will go sledding instead. She digs her sled out from the back of the gear room and heads to the top of the mountain, where she is alone on top of the world. Picturesque mountains and the sounds of nature surround her. She drops in on her sled, headfirst.

8. The Smoke That Thunders 4 minutes

   Aiming to paddle the fabled Minus rapids at the base of Victoria Falls on the Zambezi river, Ben Marr’s biggest challenge is to get to them by trekking upstream. A total assault on the senses awaits as the force of the river speaks for itself.

9. Switching Lanes 7 minutes

   A woman from Bangkok feels alienated by the comparatively soporific pace of San Francisco until a bike restored from a dumpster changes everything.

10. The Draconians 30 minutes

    The Draconians - Close Encounters of the Northern Kind Sam Favret joined Nikolai Schirmer at his home in the far north, to discover the secrets of narrow couloirs descended at full throttle, slopes that plunge straight down to the sea and days that push back the nights. Under the direction of Maxime Moulin, the two skiers - who are themselves filmmakers - took advantage of this journey, begun on the island of Senja and extended to the heart of the Lyngen Alps, to measure their contrasts as skiers and filmmakers. A dialogue fostered by long approach walks to beat the conditions and reach the Grail of powder. Then, as you'd expect with these two gentlemen, their perseverance was honored with exceptional descents in grandiose landscapes. An exciting roped party experience shared on the vertiginous faces of mythical Norway.
