French Film Approaches: A GCSE Study Day
Thursday 23rd April, 2020
10:30 - 15:30
Please note: This day is for students and teachers only. Members of the public will not be admitted, so if you are not a student or teacher, please do not book as this will not be refunded.
Before booking, please call 0114 279 6511 and ask to speak to the Young Audiences Coordinator (Linnea) to check availability, or email.
Conducted mainly in French, this interactive event has been designed with the French GCSE specifications in mind, offering students opportunities to delve deeper into themes such as relationships, immigration and French culture in preparation for the examination. The morning clip-based presentation will focus on short films based in Paris, such as Place des fêtes (2006) and Quais de Seine (2006). Students will be encouraged to take an active part in discussing the issues raised by the films. The introduction of new vocabulary, film terminology and cultural references should prove useful for both the spoken and written elements of the examination. An introduced screening of a film (TBC) will take place in the afternoon.
Led by Nicole Valencia, former teacher of French at Southend High School for Girls, and primary languages coordinator in Southend-on-Sea.
