Bhaji on the Beach 15
An inter-generational group of South Asian women living in the inner city take a break from their everyday routine and go on a day trip to Blackpool. Hoping for a much-needed holiday, tensions soon emerge within the group and their day by the sea becomes a time of decision and a moment to remember.
Gurinda Chada’s (Bend It Like Beckham, Blinded By the Light) debut film is vibrant and charming, the rare film that’s as funny as it is thoughtful. Set against the bright lights of the boardwalk, complete with sandy beaches and donkey rides, this is an undeniable British classic.
