C'mon C'mon (Baby Friendly) 15
C’mon C’mon is the latest film from Mike Mills, the Oscar-nominated writer/director behind 20th Century Women. His most recent film follows Johnny (Joaquin Phoenix) and his young nephew, who forge a tenuous but significant relationship when they are thrown together on a cross-country road trip after a familial crisis. A delicate and deeply moving story, C’mon C’mon navigates the connections between adults and children, the past and the future; Johnny’s work sees him travel across the states interviewing teenagers about their hopes and fears. Shot in black and white by cinematographer Robbie Ryan, who regularly works with Andrea Arnold, Ken Loach and Noah Baumbach, this is a sweet, life-affirming tale about family connections.
