Dark River + Q&A 15
Alice has spent the last 15 years running from the uneasy memories of her childhood. After the death of her father, she returns to the scene of her trauma to claim the farmland that she believes was promised to her. Her brother, who has remained living on the land wants to claim the tenancy for himself. Set and shot in Yorkshire, Dark River is the third film from gifted British director Clio Barnard (The Arbor). A stunningly cinematic film that effortlessly contrasts the expansive beauty of the Yorkshire countryside with the heart-breaking anguish of its lead character.
