"We loved the atmosphere here from our first visit" - Gio, Planet Datcha

Planet Datcha offers a wide variety of high quality holiday rental apartments, penthouses and villas. The brand began as a team of two in a garage in London before they decided to up sticks and move to Sheffield a year ago. The name Datcha means summer house or holiday home and the brand has certainly took its name to heart with over 2000 rental properties hosting guests from all over the world.

Planet Datcha

Since moving to Sheffield, Planet Datcha is more determined than ever to become a trusted and loved travel brand not just in South Yorkshire but the whole of the UK. The staff don’t just work there- they know the destinations incredibly well and they have developed strong relationships with the owners of their properties, even verifying the homes so that customers know they are getting a high quality holiday home for a great price.

The team at Planet Datcha know travel. They all have their own individual experiences to contribute, with staff hailing from all over the world with roots in Poland, South Africa and Italy. They have travelled to many places, picking up languages and tales along the way. They’re a fresh team looking to grow as the business grows with them.

Choosing the Workstation

When asked why they chose to base themselves in the Workstation, Planet Datcha joked that they came here just for the delicious coffee! However, on a more serious note, the location was an important factor for them. It had to be somewhere accessible to both staff and customers and somewhere that would be a great venue for events. They also loved the atmosphere here from their first visit- the idea of being surrounded by like-minded small businesses really appealed to them. Planet Datcha also found the approach of the Workstation staff to be open and helpful, a necessity when it came to overcoming obstacles such as complicated phone systems when they first moved into the building!

Alongside the great location and friendly staff, Planet Datcha chose the Workstation because of its value for money. They had previously been renting a desk in another building and decided that it was time to look for a long-term affordable solution. Not only that, but when thinking about future events, they realised that there was no better place for them to be based than in a building which houses both an exhibition space and a café/bar.

A Date with Datcha

In fact, the team liked the venue so much that they have chosen to host their first event here, just two months after they moved in. On the 21st November, the team will hold A Date With Datcha to celebrate the launch of their brand new London portfolio featuring 1000 apartments and penthouses set in the best areas of London. Not only that, but to tie in with the most wonderful time of the year, they will be giving away a weekend in London! There will be around 100 people attending the event, enjoying music from a DJ as well as food and drink. Amongst all of that, the Planet Datcha team will be keeping an eye out for which charitable gentleman has the best ‘mo’ for Movember. People from all walks of life will be attending from organisations such as Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield Council and several Sheffield Colleges.

Thinking ahead to the future, I asked Parrish and Gio where they recommended as a destination for 2015. They told me that Cape Town is the best place to go - not only is it the holiday of a lifetime, but there’s something for everyone whether you want to enjoy the outdoors, eat lots of yummy seafood or go wine tasting. The Wine Region in Cape Town is the oldest outside of Europe, the people over there speak 13 different languages; it truly is a unique place to go.

With that, I’m off to fantasise about a Cape Town getaway. In the meantime, if you want to register for A Date With Datcha event, you can do so here: https://www.planetdatcha.com/events/
