Doc/Fest 2019: Hunting for Hedonia
UK Premiere
What if there was a place deep in the brain that could take you from pain to pleasure? What if tiny pulsing electrodes in your head could change your mind? Hunting for Hedonia will examine and elucidate future growth in the use of so-called 'deep brain stimulation'. With permanent electrodes in selected areas of the brain, scientists have begun to correct abnormal activity and thereby normalize various psychiatric conditions. This way the method provokes the fundamental question of what is normal and how much we want our psyche and our mental characteristics manipulated.
