The Chinese Independent Film Network UK (CIFN-UK) hosts its first tour this autumn, in which it presents Earth in Crisis a series of Chinese eco-documentary film which explore and foreground the growing ecological emergency facing our planet.

The tour will present award-winning films covering a range of environmental issues from waste to the Three Gorges Dam, the Sichuan Earthquake and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction. All of the films selected by the CIFN-UK reveal a hidden image of China’s environmental crisis under its drastic economic development over the past few decades; and as such provide a necessary starting point for reflection, discussion and response.

This touring season is curated by Newcastle University and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
