If this sounds like you, and you are based in the South Yorkshire region, it's time to apply for the BFI Film Academy 2017-18!

This exciting programme, delivered at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield, is a hands-on filmmaking course that includes talks and workshops delivered by industry professionals. 

The course aims to develop your knowledge and skills in a range of areas of the film industry including editing, script-writing, directing, producing, cinematography and animation.

You will gain valuable teamworking experience with like-minded peers, and even get the chance to make your own film, guided by highly skilled and experienced practitioners.

You will be given the opportunity to gain a Silver Arts Award accreditation, and will receive a free cinema pass to use at the Showroom Cinema throughout your time on the course.

        It is compulsory that you attend all course dates, so please make sure that you are able to attend on all of the following dates before submitting your application;
        Thursday 9th November 2017 - Welcome Evening
        Saturday 11th, 18th, and 25th November 2017 - All Day
        Saturday 2nd, 9th and 16th December 2017 - All Day
        Saturday 6th, 13th and 20th January 2018 - All day
        Saturday 27th January 2018 - Final Screening Day

        Please note: You are not eligible to apply if you are studying at university or have previously attended a BFI Residential Course.

The course costs just £25, but bursaries are available to cover this as well as any travel fees if required. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, especially those demographics that are often underrepresented within the film industry.
