French Film Festival
The French Film Festival is an annual tour bringing the best of classic and contemporary French Cinema to screens across the UK. This year marks the 29th year of the touring programme, and we’re delighted to partnering with them to bring you a trio of exclusive film previews celebrating women in French cinema.
Our opening film is a special preview of the hotly anticipated Titane, directed by Julia Ducournau (Raw). Titane won top prize at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year in a historic moment, with Ducournau taking her place as the second woman director to win.
The second film in the programme is Catherine Corsini’s The Divide. Corsini is a celebrated French Writer-Director, and The Divide is her eleventh film. A number of her films have opened at international film festivals to major acclaim, including An Impossible Love (2018), and Summertime (2015), which both screened here at the Showroom on release. We’re pleased to be able to support the release of her latest film.
The third film in the collection is Between Two Worlds, a social-realist drama based on French journalist Florence Aubenas's bestselling non-fiction work Le Quai de Ouistreham. Aubenas is one of France’s most accomplished undercover journalists, and here her role is played by powerhouse French actress Juliette Binoche.
All films in the collection will include an introduction given by Professor Julia Dobson, a specialist in French Cinema.
