Girlhood Special Interactive Screening!

INTERACTIVE TAKEOVER – GIRLHOOD! FRIDAY 8 MAY - 6PM

If you're aged 15-18 and love film, why not join InterActive? It's FREE!

A girl gang from the same Parisian suburbs exposed in 1995's La Haine is on the loose in this triumphantly fearless and feminist take on growing up in the inner city concrete banlieue.

An exploration of friendship and identity within a group of young, black girls growing up in the outskirts of Paris: Mariamme, weighed down by family responsibility, academic disappointment and the male-dominated society she inhabits, is taken in by three fiercely confident and utterly devoted friends. Together, the gang are simultaneously terrifying and the best friends you can ever imagine having.

This "stylish, assertively female-centric feature has been causing a stir in France since its premiere in Cannes last May"  - Jonathon Romney, The Guardian  read full article featuring interviews with the cast.

With a soundtrack by French hip hop / electro producer Jean-Baptiste de Laubier aka Para One (TTC) and featuring both the likes of Light Asylum and a particularly spine-tingling Rihanna - we think this is the one film out in May that you won't want to miss.

Here's some snippets to get you started:

"An exhilarating, thought-provoking look at life inside a girl gang, GIRLHOOD is more than just a political statement about straitened opportunities or a moving female-centric relationship drama. Ravishingly shot in Cinemascope, it is a work of cinematic art."

- French Film First, The Guardian

“Energetic… hugely uplifting”

– Jessica Kiang, Indiewire’s The Playlist

“A magnetic central performance from stunning newcomer Karidja Touré” – David Rooney, Hollywood Reporter

“It’s the feminist answer to Boyhood, yet it manages to dig deeper… Girlhood is one of the most exceptional films you’ll see this year. Truly a must-see. Highly recommended!”
– Jeff Nelson, DVD Talk

We've also got a cracking competition on our website where you can win a ton of goodies including a poster signed by Céline Sciamma.

See you there!
