Johnny Saxby, a frustrated young farmer, lives with his father and grandmother in the beautifully wild Yorkshire countryside. His days working on the farm are long, and his spare time is filled with binge-drinking and casual sex.  With his father’s health deteriorating and the lambing season about to begin, the family hire an extra pair of hands in the form of Romanian farmhand, Gheorghe. His approach to the physically demanding work is one of silent tenderness and care, which Johnny is initially wary of, but soon proves to be irresistible to him and an intense relationship is ignited between the two.

One of the most accomplished British directorial debuts of recent years, God’s Own Country is powered by perfectly-crafted performances set against the breath-taking but relentless beauty of the Yorkshire countryside.
