Michael Haneke returns to form with a devilishly dark portrait of a loveless bourgeoisie family, oblivious to the trauma that unfolds within migrant camps of Calais, a few miles from their home. Taking elements of classic Haneke style, Happy End is a bitingly satirical film that is grounded in absolute realism but reaches lofty heights of bizarre, grizzly hysteria. Featuring a cast of regular Haneke collaborators including Isabelle Huppert (The Piano Teacher, Elle), Jean-Louis Trintignant (Amour).
