is the culmination of a year-long project in which four acclaimed British urban
musicians returned to their cultural roots, connecting with their homelands to
create and produce new music. Mercury Music Prize-nominated Terri Walker
travelled to Jamaica, double Mobo winner Shakka visited Dominica, while grime
artists Diztortion and Saskilla headed to Suriname and Senegal, respectively.
ground-breaking documentary produced by Punch Records follows each artist as
they travel alone, only accompanied by a small film crew, to explore the roots
of their sound and their cultural identity. The result is a fascinating story
of cultural genealogy studded with rocking and rousing musical interludes.
*Katy Stewart, PhD Researcher at the School of Languages and Culture at the University of Sheffield, will be joining us on the night to introduce the film.*
