Jacques Demy was a prestigious filmmaker, another trailblazer of the French New Wave and Agnès Varda’s life partner. In 1990, he died, and in celebration of his life Varda created Jacquot de Nantes. This is the story of a boy obsessively pursuing his dream of becoming a filmmaker, of shooting his first amateur film and marking the beginning of a dazzling career. This is a story told with the unique emotional tether of a woman in love.
