Johnny Winter: Down & Dirty - UK PREMIERE 18
In 1969 Blues legend Johnny Winter was signed by Clive Davis to Columbia Records for what was called “the largest solo artist deal of its time” - the amount of $600,000.00. He later played Woodstock, dated Janis Joplin, jammed with Jimi Hendrix, produced multiple Grammy winning albums for Muddy Waters and was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1988.
Speaking of Johnny Winter on the “Mike Douglas Show” in 1977, Muddy Waters said “When I first heard him, I thought he was one of the greatest blues players in the business.”
“LEMMY” co-director/producer Greg Olliver followed Winter on tour over the course of two years in the United States, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong as well as his comeback performance on the Late Night with David Letterman Show to create an intimate portrait of the Grammy nominated Texas musician.
