Maria tells the tumultuous, beautiful and tragic story of the life of the world’s greatest female opera singer, Maria Callas, relived and reimagined during her final days in 1970s Paris. The titular role is held by Angelina Jolie who spent 7 months training in opera to prepare for the part.
From director Pablo Larrain, Maria makes up the third and final piece in Larrain’s unofficial biographic trilogy of important women of the 20th century, following on from daring portraits Jackie and Spencer.
