Laura joined the Showroom in 2009 and has
worked in film and cinema for nearly ten years. She and the programming team
work collaboratively with many partners, supporters and educational
organisations to bring as much film as possible to the people of Sheffield and
beyond. Laura curates the Young Cinema and Education programmes and coordinates
Film Studies at the Showroom; as well as running special events that bring
music and other art forms together with film. Previously to the Showroom, Laura
studied Theatre and Film at the University of Bristol before falling in with
independent film spaces at the Cube Microplex and heading back up north to
coordinate the volunteer team at Sensoria Festival. Laura works on a number of
projects outside of her life at the Showroom. These are secret, but her
longstanding love for all things birds and camping is not.
