Mothering Sunday (Early Doors) 15
Eva Husson’s Mothering Sunday is a moving retelling of Graham Swift’s novel of the same name. An emotional period drama, it tells the story of Jane, a housemaid to a wealthy family who finds herself alone on Mother’s Day. With her employers away, she has the rare chance to spend an afternoon with her secret lover, Paul, the only one of his peer group to return from the war. Despite his affair with Jane lasting several years, Paul is engaged to be married to another woman.
A touching story, marked by loss and regret, Mothering Sunday follows these characters over a period of time, as they encounter events that will change the course of their lives forever.
