Off Frame aka Revolution Until Victory + Q&A 18
Off Frame aka Revolution Until Victory explores the Palestinian people's struggle to represent themselves. Using archival material produced by the Palestine Film Unit, a group founded in the 1960s that wanted to document the Palestinian revolution, the film explores popular representations of Palestine as well as the work of revolutionary film makers who transformed the image of the Palestinian from refugee to freedom fighter. The film borrows shots and sequences from the few PLO films that remain extant, intersecting with footage produced by international filmmakers who collaborated with the Palestinian revolution from Syria, Italy, UK, Lebanon, France, Germany and Argentina. It presents an historical narrative of struggle that asks us to interrogate both the image in front of the camera and as well as those 'off frame'.
There will be a Q&A with Director Mohanad Yaqubi after the screening
The screenings are supported by Sheffield Hallam University, Arts and Humanities Research Council, Sheffield Palestine Cultural Exchange, Cinema Palestino Manchester.
