Off the Shelf: Off the Wall Exhibition
The Workstation
Friday 5 - Friday 26 October
FREE and open to the public Mon - Fri 8.45am - 8pm
Exhibition of painting, photography, ceramics, glass and sculpture by Walkley Edge artists.
Walkley Edge artists including those from the ‘artiest street in Sheffield’ (Sheffield Telegraph, 3 May 2012) present Off The Wall, work inspired by or representing literature in its many forms, in association with the Off The Shelf festival of words.
To link with Off The Shelf, artists have used inspiration from novels such as Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights and At The Loch of the Green Corrie by Andrew Greig; poetry including John Masefield’s Sea Fever; non-fiction such as A Fortunate Man by John Berger; and images of the impassioned street writing of urban graffiti. Visual art and literature meet in a feast for the eyes and soul at the Workstation, Sheffield's hothouse of creative talent and innovation in the heart of the city.
