Adapted by Ian McEwan from his bestselling novel of the same
name, Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird, Brooklyn) and Billy Howle (The Sense of an Ending) star as a young
newlywed couple in the summer of 1962. Flashbacks follow the pair through their
idyllic courtship, as the film explores sex and the societal pressure that can
accompany physical intimacy, leading to an awkward and fateful wedding night.
